Upfront magazine: how much power dose the president really have?

As you know, or think you know, the president is in charge. Right? Wrong! The president can actually do so much. Ya, know you think that " oh, he can fix taxes" or " but he can fix the economy" but no. The presidents decisions are all based upon the constitution.

The president may choose to send people to somewhere for war, but only the constitution can really declare war. The president must work with the constitution to get anything done. You must think, why doesn't the constitution take over as the leader of our country? Well, I don't know why, but I can tell you that the democrats only have 52 seats out of 100 in the house of the representatives. And also the republicans have 234 out of the 435 seats I'm the senate and republicans. So ask your self this. How much power does the president really have?

Upfront magazine watching you

In the article, from the upfront magazine, Watching You it talks about how the United States upped their security, computer and phone surveillance. They explain why they do it and the ups from having all this surveillance videos for the government. I honestly believe that it's okay for the government to do all these things.
I asked my mother about it and her exact words about the article were, " I don't care if they listen in onto my conversations. I have nothing to hide so why should I hide it?" I agree with her statement, if we did nothing wrong why should we hide it? Other hand, some people think that they need privacy and the government shouldn't be able to do this. The fact is that the fourth amendment states that the government/police need a court issued warrant to be able to listen in on phone calls of a suspected criminal, look into your car, and to be able to look into your home. This amendment gives you privacy in your own home. But, the amendment doesn't include when you step outside of your own home. It says, it doesn't cover the right to have privacy once you step outside of your home. You are allowed, by law to be able to be photographed( by surveillance cameras, or by anyone with an iPhone).
53% of people who were asked this question agreed that they should be able to look into our phone, computers and any other items they need to. I also asked my stepfather and he agreed/disagreed with the question. He was on the neutral side of things. In the article it states that with all the governments looking about they caught over 55 terrorists attacks before they happened. One of these attacks was going to be a NYC subway backpack bombing. In conclusion, I think it is okay for the US government to look at our phone bills and other phone things, to look into our computers, and to look in our homes and cars.

Blog post

In the story Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi is about the life story of a girl of ten, Satrapi. The story starts when she is ten and ends when she is twenty two. Satrapi is born into a loving family in Tehran during the Islamic revolution.she faces many challenges in her life and sometimes makes the wrong one. I think that Satrapi has to make many decisions in life and she makes them out of pure pressure.

I think that Satrapi makes her decisions based off of pure pressure. In the book it says that, " I snapped off most of my hair, then I added some thick I liner. At last I was finished. I look like as if I am goth." This proves that she is making herself change even if she doesn't want to. Another quote from the text is, " once again, I went back to Iran and made myself the perfect Iranian woman." This shows that Satrapi is changing yet again. She wants freedom not to be trapped in her country. " once my friends came and greeted me they all looked different. So from then on I changed my appearances to look like them." This shows that she is like any other teen that would change their personality for anything.

This claim connects to me personally because sometimes in elementary school I wanted to change who I was so I could be popular. I almost once did , but after my mother gave me a talk like what Satrapi's parents did to her, too. This connects to teens because pure pressure makes us do things we would never do on our own. We wouldn't smoke with our so called "friends". We teens are very emotionally sensitive when it comes to popularity.

Book reading reasponce isabel

The author uses inner thinking and dialogue to reveal my character by revealing what Evie wants to act like and what she really act like. Evie acts like a bad girl by breaking the rules. But when she's with her mother and step father she is sort of a goody two shoes. When you go inside her head it's a whole new world to explore. She thinks what she wants to speak but only says what people want to hear. Like, for example she would say that your hair looks good but she really thinks that your hair is ugly. The author reveals two sides of Evie. Her fake side and then her real side.

Boring

Isabel. Even the name on paper looks bland. The name is a silent film, colorless with no sound to it. My name isn't unique or special. It's not a master piece, full of color and nothing like the last.

My name comes from the most ancient of books. The Bible. My name is a hand me down frome the character, Isabell.

My name is the darkness that encompasses the twilight sky. If I had a more exciting name like Vanessa or Raymond or Saphira. Yes exciting like Saphira.

Hunger Games reasponce

In the book the Hunger Games, Katniss is living off of what her dead father taught her. That is until the hunger games come around again. Prim, Katniss's younger sister, is chosen to compete in the deathly games. In a rush to save her sisters life Katniss volunteers to compete instead of Prim.
Who is also chosen to compete in the games is the bakers son, Peeta. Katniss and Peeta are taken to a fancy Capitol train that along the way picks up the other competitors from all the districts. From district twelve to the Capitol Katniss's and Peeta's chances of winning seem to be getting slimmer and slimmer at each district stop. When they finally get to the Capitol the competitors are getting ready for their moment to be shown to the watchers. Katniss and Peeta gets known as the girl and boy on fire from their firey costumes. After all the show things are out of the way the children are trained and prepped for the games. During the training they meet a small girl from district nine who seems to be weak but soon learn not to underestimate her. They also get training and tips from the mentors who all have won the games. Sadly for Katniss  and Peeta the only winner from district twelve is the drunk Hymitch. As the last day for training comes closer and closer the tension is getting higher and higher. Finally, the dreaded day arrives. Katniss and Peeta are risen to the stands and are waiting for the timer to ring. As the timer rings Katniss grabs the bow and arrow as numerous kids throats and other body items are cut open. She disappears into the forest. As days go by with her running for her life she notices that all the upper district kids (well, the ones who are still alive) gang up together ang kill all the children that aren't in their group. As Katniss spots the group below the tree she was sleeping in she spots Peeta withe the group. As time goes by their are only five kids left, when she stumbles across the Cato group and all their supplies like food, water, and med's (the higher district group is called the Cato group). This is when she teams up with the districts nine Ruth. Ruth and Katniss make up a whistle warning but in the end Ruth gets stabbed by one of the Cato group people and dies. This is the famous part where Katniss lays Ruth down and places flowers around her and does the famous two finger hand sign to the camera. Meanwhile in district nine there is an uproar when Ruth is killed. Katniss and Peeta find each other and is in a show down with Cato. In the end Cato is feed to the dogs (literally!) and the rules exclaim that there must be one winner only, but Katniss and Peeta refuse to kill each other and they threaten to kill themselves if they don't both win and end up getting what they want. This upsets the Game Makers very much.
